Dear ICDSST – PROMETHEE Days 2018 participants,
Our conference in Crete is now finished and has been a great success! There have been 75 submissions and 5 invited speakers plus a couple of panels. We wish to take this opportunity to thank you all again for coming and contributing to the success of the event! We also thank our hosts, the Hellenic Institute of Marine Research in Heraklion, for the warm and very pleasant hosting of our conference in their lovely city! Looking forward to seeing you again in Madeira in ICDSST 2019!

The ICDSST in 2018 is jointly organized by the EURO Working Group on Decision Support Systems (EWG-DSS) and the PROMETHEE DAYS group. The conference will be hosted by the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research during the period of 22-25 May 2018.
Location: Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, Gournes Pediados, Heraklion, Crete, Greece (refer to the Accommodation page for details about the location).
Purpose of the ICDSST – PROMETHEE DAYS 2018
The joint-conference aims to provide a communication platform for scholars, researchers, developers, specialists and other professionals in the related areas of decision making and decision support, including DSS methodologies and technologies as well as application oriented solutions, to get together in order to exchange ideas, share experiences, discuss key issues, and identify future research and development directions. Additionally, users of PROMETHEE are also welcome to participate and disseminate their theoretical developments, comparative analyses or practical applications of the PROMETHEE methods.
ICDSST – PROMETHEE DAYS 2018 Main Theme
The ICDSST – PROMETHEE DAYS 2018 will focus on the role, the qualities, the models and methods offered by sustainable data-driven and evidence based Decision Support, mainly applied to Environment and Energy. On these sectors, diverse stakeholders at various governance levels seek to devise and implement sound and robust policies which mitigate environmental impacts while taking into account various parameters. Decision Support Systems can simulate different scenarios and offer solutions in modern managerial issues which are full of redundant and complex information. Such rapidly evolving situations, which engage a large number of individuals with different agendas in complicated decision making processes, require such tools for support. It is in this context that the key topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Decision Support Modeling
- Decision Support and Expert Systems in the Environment and Energy Sectors
- Data Visualisation and Decision Making/Support
- Environmental and Energy Data Visualisation
- Geographic Information Systems
- Data Science, Big Data Analytics and Business Intelligence

- Knowledge Acquisition, Management, Extraction and Visualisation
- Collaborative Decision Making
- Intelligent, Web-based, Spatial Decision Support Systems
- Application Models and Systems: Agricultural, Environmental, Farming, Water Resources, Livestock, Fisheries, Warehouse, Sustainable Forest and Rangeland Management, Food Processing and Supply Chain Management
- Simulation Models and Systems, Regional Planning, Logistics and Traceability
- Case Studies involving any of the above issues

The main aim of the EURO Working Group on Decision Support Systems (EWG-DSS) is to establish a platform for encouraging state-of-the-art high quality research and collaboration work within the DSS community. Other aims of the EWG-DSS are to:
Encourage the exchange of information among practitioners, end-users, and researchers in the area of Decision Systems; Stimulate networking among the DSS communities available and facilitate activities that are essential for the start-up of international cooperation research and projects; Facilitate professional academic and industrial opportunities for its members; Favour the development of innovative models, methods and tools in the field of Decision Support and related areas; And actively promote the interest on Decision Systems in the scientific community by organizing dedicated workshops, seminars, mini-conferences, conference streams in major conferences and our own dedicated ICDSST conference series, as well as editing special and contributed issues in relevant scientific journals.
The EWG-DSS has already established a recognized tradition is organizing high level conferences and workshops concerning themes of Decision Support Systems, their applications and development approaches. The ICDSST – PROMETHEE DAYS 2018 welcomes participants from a wide range of background around the world, including scholars, researchers, developers, specialists, practitioners and other professionals, as well as Master and PhD students, who are interested in the decision making and decision support related areas, such as DSS methodologies and technologies as well as application-oriented solutions.
